Jr. Pirate Prep Program

 

The Jr. Pirate Prep  Program  is a “learn to play hockey” program for youngsters ages 4-10 years divided into four  5-week, 10 session courses from September, 2010  through February, 2011. Course fee per session is $100 per student plus USA Hockey Registration fee (one- time fee per year). 

Boys and girls are taught the fundamentals of skating (backwards and forwards), puck control, shooting, the basics of "how to play hockey," rules and penalties. Children interested in becoming goaltenders are taught stance, positioning, basic saves and skating skills.


Required equipment for Session One (Level 1) is as follows:

 

  • Hockey skates (no figure skates). Available for rental at Bladez On Ice.
  • Helmet (approved hockey helmet – no bicycle helmets).
  • Hockey Gloves. Elbow pads worn under the shirt.
  • Shin Guards (worn inside the pants).
  • Loose fitting pants (no jeans)
  • Sweatshirt or shirts with full arm coverage. 
  • Hockey stick cut to appropriate size and ends taped
  • USAH Waiver of Liability signed and on file.


In addition to the above, hockey pants and hockey socks will be required during levels 2 through 4.

You may begin "Level 1" training in ANY session!  Coaches will separate players into groups based on size and ability.
